In this issue, we highlight the RGALT’s 25-year legacy of protecting farmland and water resources throughout the Middle Rio Grande, emphasizing both its growth and the need for conservation in the face of increasing development and water challenges. We underscore RGALT’s major achievements: securing dozens of conservation easements, leveraging limited funding to help land-rich but cash-poor families, and safeguarding more than 15,000 acres of agricultural and ecological land.
The newsletter also features personal stories, including families preserving generational land and the Meinrad Craighead retreat property, highlight the human side of this work. RGALT urges community support to ensure the region’s agricultural and environmental resilience for future generations.
